AI can create a design in seconds.
But it cannot create a legacy.
When you meet Laekin V., founder of Rubbish Raiders, you realize almost immediately that his business is more than a bin-cleaning service. It’s a reflection of his dedication, work ethic, and vision for growth. A true solopreneur, Laekin runs every part of the business himself while building his client base in the Treasure Valley, with plans to expand into Utah.
Like many entrepreneurs, Laekin had already created the basics of his brand. But he knew that if he wanted to stand out, he needed something deeper than a logo, he needed a story.
The 'AI' approach vs. the Nalu approach
If Laekin had asked an AI to “make a logo for a trash bin cleaning company,” it would have given him a generic trash can icon. It would have been fast. It would have been cheap. And it would have been invisible. This is pretty much where he was when we started.
The brand had no real personality. It looked fine on paper, but it didn’t reflect Laekin or the spirit behind his business. Together, we explored what mattered most to him, discussed design direction, and arrived at a visual identity that felt true.
Our goal wasn’t just a refresh; it was to put Laekin’s story at the center of his brand. By weaving his Polynesian heritage into the design, we created an identity that is professional, authentic, and personal. His brand no longer just represents what he does, it reflects who he is.
The power of story-driven strategy
At Nalu Strategies, we believe every brand begins with the person behind it. A logo should do more than catch the eye. It should carry meaning, history, and heart. By listening to Laekin’s journey and grounding the design in his story, we created assets that speak not only to his business but to his identity as an entrepreneur.
For Rubbish Raiders, the result is more than clean bins. It’s a brand that stands out, feels authentic, and carries a story customers can connect with. And as Laekin continues to grow, his brand is ready to grow with him; not just as a business, but as a story that makes waves.

Giving back: The spirit of aloha
This project was part of our Mālama initiative. Once a year, Nalu Strategies selects a small business to receive brand storytelling work for free.
Why? Because we care about our community. And we take care of those who are part of it. That kind of support is uniquely human, it cannot be generated by AI. It’s our way of elevating others and putting people first, proving that powerful stories often start small but ripple far.
